Chess robot: reading the board and recognising the move

Recognition of changes on the chessboard and the move made by the player.

The challenge

A physical chessboard changes when a piece is moved or captured. The system needs to recognise the affected squares and interpret the new arrangement according to the rules of the game.

The inspection

Imago reads the piece arrangement, identifies which squares have changed and checks whether the change corresponds to a legal move in the current position. The project allows the player to interact with the robot by moving pieces on the board.
