Machined surfaces: porosity and integrity near edges

Porosity, pore concentrations, edge integrity and obstructions on machined surfaces and in internal casting areas.

The component

Machined surfaces include faces, edges and areas around openings. An isolated pore, several adjacent pores and a discontinuity near an edge require assessment in their respective areas. Internal surfaces add further functional features.

What we inspect

Imago looks for porosity on machined surfaces and in the examined internal areas. Inspection includes finding positions relative to edges and pore concentration in defined areas. Other checks concern contour integrity and potential obstructions of openings.
