Case study · Die casting and automotive

Die castings: porosity on faces, holes and chamfers

Porosity on machined faces, inside openings and on chamfers of the same die-cast component.

The component

The part has flat and inclined surfaces, openings and transitions. Porosity can affect a face or a smaller area around a hole. A chamfer is also a functional surface requiring inspection for material discontinuities.

What we inspect

Imago looks for porosity in hole areas, on machined surfaces and on chamfers. The specified areas include different faces of the same part. Inspection assesses material findings against the criteria for their respective surfaces, including areas near openings.
