Bedplates: porosity, holes and machined features

Porosity, threads, holes, notches, thicknesses and edges on the machined faces and inside the cavities of a die-cast bedplate.

The component

The bedplate has flat surfaces, openings, cavities and machined features. Porosity concerns the material, while an incorrectly positioned notch or non-conforming thickness concerns geometry. Edges and connecting areas also require their own checks.

What we inspect

Imago looks for porosity on machined surfaces and in internal areas, checks edges, holes and threads and measures notch position and dimensions. Inspection includes thicknesses, pins and cap conditions in the specified areas. Features on upper and lower faces, short sides and cavities are examined.
