Metal parts: batch counting

Counting the metal parts that make up a batch.

The quantity in a batch

The task is to count the metal parts that make up a batch. The feature to verify is the actual number of components: this case concerns part quantity, without extending inspection to dimensional or surface characteristics.

Recognising and counting parts

Machine vision recognises metal parts and counts their passage. In the inspection image, detected components are highlighted with bounding boxes: each detection contributes to the batch count.

From each part to the total

Inspection determines the total number of parts counted in the batch. The image documents component recognition; it is not a measurement of system speed or accuracy. The AimTrace website provides further information about counting on a conveyor.
